“If you don’t like the weather in Maine, wait a few minutes.”
Just the othe week, this was more true than ever. In one week we had the following weather systems:
- Freezing rain
The temperature ranged from the single numbers up to the mid-50’s. It surely was a strange week of weather for February.
As if that wasn’t odd enough, on March 9th, Maine broke the high temp record in two cities. According to the Bangor Daily News, Gray’s high temp of the day was 66 degrees breaking its former record high of 55 degrees and in Bangor, the high temp was 58 degrees breaking that city’s former high of 54 degrees. A few other cities in Maine saw the temps rise into the 70’s with the highest temperature reaching 77 degrees in Buxton.
Weather forecast predicted rain and snow over the next day or two. Water levels were expected to rise with the melting snow and rain and flood warnings were expected.
So, when you head out for the day in Maine, don’t forget your umbrella – winter coat – sweatshirt – swim suit . . .
