Sites are placed in categories by our content team. Each suggested site is visited and evaluated to determine its appropriatedness for our directory and its best placement. We do this to ensure that the Directory is organized in the best possible way, is easy to use, intuitive, helpful, and contains appropriate material.

Content: All sites submitted to TheMaineShop.com must be Maine-based businesses and organizations. No adult, illegal, or otherwise harmful sites are accepted into this directory. All questionable submissions will be deleted upon submission.

With this in mind, we ask that you follow three simple steps if you have a site (URL) you'd like to suggest:

1. Check to see if your site is already listed.
An important first step, because if your site is already listed, you do not need to submit it again. Check by searching for your site by title, or by browsing appropriate categories. (You can do this from most pages within the directory using the search box near the top of the screen).

2: Find the appropriate category in the Directory.
Finding an appropriate category for your site is at the heart of this process. Remember that our content team visits each site suggested and proper categorization on your part helps us process suggestions quickly.

3. Suggest your site to the appropriate category.
Suggest your site to the category you think most appropriate. Also remember that the final placement of your site is determined by our content team.

When you click on "Add Your Site", you'll see an on-line form asking for information about your site. Please select the category most appropriate for your site. Be prepared to provide your e-mail address, your site's title, URL, and a brief description to associate with your entry. Please ensure that you use the full URL (http://www.....) in your entry. Also, we ask that you do not use any non-alphanumeric characters in the descriptions!

We update our database on average every two days. Sites following the guidelines above can expect to be added in this time. Please help us to help you by providing all appropriate information as outlined above and only suggest Maine-related web sites.

Due to the number of submissions that we recieve, we can not notify you of your site's addition or deletion to the Directory. Please check back in a few day's to see if your site is listed. If you have questions, please contact us.
